Hi, I'm Jessica.
I am a bilingual therapist, forensic mental health evaluator, educator, and PhD candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at Colorado Christian University. As a first-generation Mexican American and neurodivergent clinician, I am deeply interested in the ways culture, identity, and lived experiences shape our inner worlds and influence who we become.
I founded Satori Counseling PLLC to provide culturally responsive mental health services and forensic evaluations to individuals and families across the United States. Since 2019, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing psychotherapy, crisis intervention, clinical assessment, and forensic mental health evaluations in both English and Spanish.

I have a particular passion for Jungian psychology, Play therapy, and counselor development. I am drawn to symbolism, meaning-making, and the transformative nature of life's transitions. Whether through therapy, forensic work, teaching, or research, I believe our relationships, cultural experiences, and personal narratives profoundly shape the stories we tell about ourselves and the lives we create.
As a researcher, I am especially interested in transcendental phenomenology and understanding how individuals make meaning of their lived experiences. I am currently completing my doctoral dissertation, Exploring the Lived Experiences of Matrescence: A Transcendental Phenomenological Study of Maternal Identity Transformation. My research explores the psychological and emotional transition into motherhood and seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of maternal identity development and culturally responsive maternal mental health care.
In addition to my clinical work, I am passionate about teaching and mentoring future counselors. My experiences include graduate-level instruction, continuing education training, and teaching assistantships in counselor education, supervision, and sandplay therapy. My scholarly work includes publications in multicultural counseling and neurodivergence, presentations at national conferences, and community education initiatives aimed at increasing mental health awareness and reducing barriers to care.
At the heart of my work is a commitment to honoring people's stories, advocating for underserved communities, and helping individuals and families make meaning of life's most challenging and transformative experiences.
